Sugar Cone and Tongs
This sugar cone would have been held with the tongs in a hot cup of tea,
gradually dissolving and sweetening the drink. In April 1754, British
Parliament passed the Sugar Act, levying duties on imported sugar and
curtailing colonial trade and setting the stage for colonial revolt after the
1765 passage of the Stamp Act.
